Thousands gathered for the Ascension Day procession in Belgrade on Thursday, led by the Head of the Serbian Orthodox Church- Patriarch Porfirije and dedicated to the victims of the two mass shootings that took place in Serbia in the past week.

The footage features followers gathering for the procession as Patriarch Porfirije addressed the masses.

The head of the Serbian Orthodox Church held a prayer for those killed and wounded only 100 meters from the location of one of the shootings. The procession ended at the Saint Sava temple, where the Patriarch addressed the believers.

Serbia was left in mourning earlier in the month after a 13-year-old student took his father’s gun and opened fire at the Vladislav Ribnikar elementary school, killing eight students and a security guard.

Two days later, a 20-year-old man randomly targeted citizens with an automatic weapon in a village near Mladenovac, south of Belgrade, killing eight and wounding 14 others.
