President of the Republic of Srpska Milorad Dodik claimed that the European Union was openly acting as a 'political and military supporter of the Kiev regime', while speaking on the sidelines of the 11th International meeting of High Representatives for Security Issues in Moscow region on Wednesday.

Dodik added that sanctions imposed on the Russian Federation by Western countries also threatened European energy security.

"European countries are forced to follow the US policy, although they have no alternative to Russian oil and gas, and thus they cause direct damage to their economic systems," he said.

Meanwhile, Belarusian State Security Council Secretary Alexander Volfovich stated that the build-up of forces in the European Union may indicate that 'they are getting prepared for war'.

"The shift in the balance of power in the European region can be illustrated by the accelerated entry of Finland into NATO, the involvement of Sweden in the bloc, the growing military budgets of Eastern European countries, and the further disregard of our Western neighbours obligations’ in the field of arms control," Volfovich added.

On Monday, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell reported that countries had given 10 billion euros in military support through the European Peace Facility. NATO countries have delivered 65 billion euros in military assistance, according to Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

Moscow launched a military offensive in Ukraine in late February 2022 after recognising the independence of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR), claiming that Kiev had failed to guarantee their special status under the 2014 Minsk Agreements, and urging Ukraine to declare itself officially neutral and give assurances that it would never join NATO.

Kiev denounced the Russian action as an invasion. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky imposed martial law throughout the country, announcing a general mobilisation, while the EU and the US imposed several rounds of sanctions on Moscow.
