Thousands of runners took part in the 'One Run' international half-marathon at Beijing Winter Olympic Park on Wednesday, to launch the event which will all take place across five other countries; Russia, Belarus, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia.

“I have run 50 marathon races, I also run various cross-country events, and this time I feel very honoured and comfortable running a [half] marathon in the Beijing Winter Olympic Park”, said one participant, Cui.

Competitors in Beijing had a choice of four distances - the full half-marathon of 21.1km, as well as 10km, 5km and 1km - giving those with differing abilities the opportunity to take part.

“I feel very good, I won first place this time, and now I am a little excited, after all, the 10km is my first place, so I am very happy,” said Miss Duan after winning the 10 km distance race.

The event was supported by the Beijing Association of Athletics and the 'League of Heroes', the largest organiser of sports mass events in Russia.

The race returned to China after a COVID-19 hiatus.
