Hundreds of activists took part in a protest on Friday in front of the Ministry of Transport in Berlin. The rally, headed by Fridays for Future Germany, claimed against the transport and traffic policies adopted by the current Minister of Transport, Volker Wissing, from Free Democratic Party (FDP), and demanded his resignation.

Demonstrators also called for more investments in public transportation and defended ending cars with combustion engines by 2035.

“Since this government has been in office, the FDP is the party that blocks, that slows down, that prevents climate protection from finally progressing. And which yet portrays 'as if it weren't like that'!", said one of the protest organizers.

On Tuesday, the German government consisting of the coalition of the Socialist Party (SPD), FDP and the Greens, announced measures that would reinforce roads and railways, as well as an expansion of motorway routes in the country.
