
Russia: Putin visits 'Tauric Chersonese' historical and archaeological park in Sevastopol
Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the 'Tauric Chersonesos' Historical and Archaeological Park in Sevastopol on Saturday.
The head of state was accompanied by Sevastopol's Governor Mikhail Razvozzhayev and Metropolitan Tikhon of Pskov and Porkhov, as they toured the freshly opened 'Korsun' children's and an art centre - both of which are part of a larger educational complex.
The metropolitan told Putin that the complex will feature Christian, Byzantine and Antiquities museums, an exhibition on the history of Crimea and Novorossia and the International Centre for Archaeology, among other attractions.
In addition, the cleric added that large-scale excavations were carried out on the territory of Tauric Chersonesos.
"More than three million artefacts have been found," the metropolitan noted.
Tauric Chersonesos Historical and Archaeological Park was created upon instruction of the president on March 17, 2019.
