Russia: Rallies and concerts mark anniversary of Crimea's reunification across country
Rallies and concerts marking the ninth anniversary of Crimea's reunification with Russia were held in Khabarovsk, Novosibirsk and Chelyabinsk on Saturday.
Ruptly footage shows local residents, representatives of political parties, the regional public, as well as youth and veteran organisations participating in the festivities and watching the performances.
Several ensembles performed as part of the rally and concert in Khabarovsk, while guests took part in a flash mob forming the word 'Crimea'.
A concert was held in the Central Park of Novosibirsk, where local bands performed patriotic songs. Visitors came to the event carrying Russian tricolour.
In addition to a celebratory concert, Chelyabinsk also hosted master classes in painting wooden magnets in the colours of the Russian flag.
"The reunification of Crimea with Russia is a symbol of the return of Russian lands, a symbol of the birth of a new world order based on justice and mutual respect. Happy holiday, friends!" said Head of the Republic of Crimea Sergei Aksyonov as he congratulated the residents of the peninsula on Saturday.
A general vote on the status and statehood of the peninsula was held in the region on March 16, 2014. As a result of the referendum on March 18, Russia recognised Crimea and Sevastopol as subjects of the Russian Federation.
Celebrations marking the event also took place in various other Russian cities on Saturday.
