Serbia: Not far from 'third World War' - Vucic says Putin ICC arrest warrant is further escalation of conflict
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic reacted to the recent decision of the International Criminal Court (ICC), to issue arrest warrants against Russian President Vladimir Putin, and announced his concern regarding "not being far away from the outbreak of World War three", on Friday in Srijemska Mitrovica.
Footage shows Vucic delivering his speech concerning the ICC’s newly-made decision about President Putin and clarifying his concerns and views towards the West’s intentions.
Referring to the further escalation in the world, the Serbian president first accused the West of having not much concern about the possible escalation of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine and said that "the West wants to exert additional pressure on all those who have not been the most aggressive against the Russian Federation so far".
"I am ready to tell you that I am afraid that we are not far from the outbreak of the third World War," added the Serbian President.
ICC issued an arrest warrant for the Russian President over "alleged war crimes in Ukraine", a decision which was dismissed by Moscow as meaningless. It is a rare event for the court to issue a warrant against a head of state who is currently in power.
Speaking about the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Vucic also highlighted the critical importance of preserving Serbia and its citizens. Vucic underlined that the opposing parties would no longer compromise and would play to each other's destruction.
On Thursday, Vucic also announced that he has no intention of signing any agreements during his meeting with the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, on March 18, despite NATO's call for both nations to make progress towards de-escalation.
