North Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) photos published on Friday showed the alleged launch of Pyongyang's largest Hwasong-17 intercontinental ballistic missile which reportedly took place on Thursday.

According to KCNA, the missile was fired amid 'provocative and aggressive' joint military drills conducted by the United States and South Korea. The launch was earlier reported by the government in Seoul.

The photos also feature the country's leader Kim Jong Un watching what it says is an intercontinental ballistic missile being test-launched.

The latest launch was North Korea's third one since Sunday and took place as South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol headed to Tokyo for a summit with Japan's Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.
