India: 'We are having a lot of fun' - Coloured powders thrown during Holi celebrations in Punjab
Hundreds of believers were seen celebrating the Hindu festival of Holi in Rupnagar, Punjab, on Wednesday.
Footage shows locals covering each other with coloured powder as they celebrated in the city.
Floats and tractors carrying costumed performers paraded through the streets, while local stalls sold traditional sweets. Some residents were seen throwing the coloured powder at a passing train.
"From morning to evening we will celebrate today. We are having a lot of fun and we had breakfast and sweets together," explained Sharvan Singh. "This day is a very special day for us. This is the only time in a year we celebrate this festival together like this and we are having a lot of fun."
The celebration represents the coming of spring and new life, as well as the triumph of good over evil.
