UK: 'I under-evaluated the recovery' - Conte on returns to Spurs bench a month after gallbladder surgery
Tottenham Head coach Antonio Conte admitted that he underestimated the recovery time needed as he returned a month after his gallbladder surgery, speaking in London on Tuesday.
The Spurs coach missed a month of competition as he recovered in Italy after surgery to remove his gallbladder. His assistant Cristian Stellini led the time in his absence.
"I under-evaluated the recovery after surgery and for this reason, I think for my sense of responsibility I wanted to come back early. I under-evaluated the situation, and the surgery but maybe I over-evaluated my body and myself. But, now I'm well and I've recovered energy," The Italian coach explained at the pre-game press conference before the UCL game against AC Milan.
"I wanted to come back early. But in this case, I chose to respect the doctors and the Tottenham doctors, as they were really worried," Conte detailed.
Tottenham will face AC Milan on Wednesday in the Champions League last 16 return leg. The British side lost the first match (1-0) and has to overturn the result to reach the quarter-finals.
