Hundreds of feminists and LGBT+ activists marched for women's rights in Istanbul on Sunday, ahead of March 8, International Working Women's Day.

Footage shows activists protesting against male violence and the state's policies towards women.

"We are united with our anger and rebellion against male and state violence, femicide, poverty, political Islam, war, the transformation of natural events into massacres, the politics of rent and plunder," said Bilge Seckin Cetinkaya, a member of Women of Workers' Party.

According to media reports, some of the activists accused the government of failing to address women's security and assistance needs in the aftermath of the massive earthquake.
