France: 'Aggravate repression, confinement, deportations' - Migrants rally against Darmanin immigation law in Paris
Protesters took to the streets of Paris on Saturday to protest against the French government's new law on immigration.
Migrant associations and work unions claimed against the bill draft presented by the Minister of Interior, Gerald Darmanin.
"Today we are here to say 'no' to this bill, to refuse this policy which will further aggravate repression, confinement and deportations. We want a real policy of reception of migrants on the territory and freedom of movement and installation", explained Clemence, spokesperson of Solidaires’ Union.
According to local media, the so-called 'Darmanin law' would be the most restrictive rule on immigration passed in France. It would entail a complete reform of the asylum system and simplify deportations.
