Spain: Gadgets galore as Mobile World Congress returns to Barcelona
Hundreds of tech enthusiasts from around the world flocked to the Fira de Barcelona convention centre this week, as the 'Mobile World Congress' (MWC) returned to the Spanish city, as seen in footage captured on Tuesday.
The trade show features the latest products from Xiaomi, Nokia, OnePlus, Huawei and many others, showcasing the latest technology in the mobile phone industry.
Chinese consumer electronics company Xiaomi generated a lot of buzz at this year’s MWC, with the Xiaomi 13 pro, the latest model in its flagship range, in collaboration with high-end camera manufacturer Leica.
“This is the Xiaomi 13 pro, currently our top-of-the-line flagship, and as you can see here, it has also the Leica logo here because we also co-engineered the product with Leica," a Xiaomi sales rep explained.
“The highlight for this one is that the hand feel is very very good. If you notice if you hold this one you can feel it very comfortable, it is a well-rounded flat shape,” she added.
A group of Ukrainian tech startups were also present at the trade show, turning heads with an innovative virtual reality experience, which helps users to understand the conditions experienced by Ukrainians working in the technology industry during a time of conflict.
"We are here to present the Ukrainian technical systems and to present eight Ukrainian startups here, so now even during the war we are working and we need to push our economy," explained Levgeniia Bespalova, a representative for the Ukrainian startup cooperative.
"A lot of people do not understand in what condition we are working now, and what is really going on in Ukraine so here now we have the program with virtual reality you can try and come to Ukraine, visit Ukraine here in our booth and understand what is going on now and how we are working," she added.
Chinese robotics company Unitree captured the imagination of many attendees at the event, with crowds gathering to watch its mechanised dog ‘Unitree Go1’ showcase its functionality.
"Our brand is Unitree, Unitree robotics we focus on producing electric Robot dogs worldwide," the company’s sales manager said.
"Our purpose is to design and to create robot dogs to replace human beings in dangerous work in hard environments so this is the main purpose why we design this robot dog," he added.
Mobile World Congress 2023 will be open to the public from February 27th until March 2nd.
