Koka City Hall employees dressed as ninjas on Wednesday as the town celebrated Ninja Day.
Workers of the Koka City Office helped residents with their administrative procedures while wearing costumes resembling the clothes of Feudal Japan's beloved warriors'.
On 22 February, the date spells as '2-2-2', pronounced as 'ni-ni-ni', explained Kato, one of the employees. "Koka City is famous for its ninjas, which is why the city is trying to promote it as ninjas' hometown", he said.
The city of Koka, located in southern Shiga Prefecture, housed some of the most important ninja clans in Japan during the Sengoku period. Koka's Ninja House and Ninja Village became popular touristic spots for those interested in the historical 'shinobi' warriors.
