Germany: 'I can breathe air finally‘ - Berliners react on end of mandatory masks on public transport
Berliners shared their opinions on the decision to end the mandatory use of face masks on public transport, after the measure was lifted on Thursday.
Commuters and residents approved the new rule, although some pointed out that they will continue to use the mask to avoid catching diseases such as the flu. "Of course, I think it's kind of good that you have your freedom now, that you don't always think 'Oh God, I forgot my mask; now I have to pay a fine'. But on the other hand, I also think it's bad, because I was very ill now, had a very bad cold, I'm still a little bit ill, and then, of course, I think it would be stupid to infect other people who don't wear a mask", stated Corinna, a Berlin resident.
Another resident, Dagmar added "this is super. I can breathe air again finally, and you can see my beautiful face."
Mandatory face masks on public transport were introduced in early 2020 across Germany in an effort to curb the spread of COVID19.
