Cape Verde: Dozens of boats begin second leg of Ocean Race 2023 to South Africa
Dozens of boats began their journey on Wednesday from Mindalo in Cape Verde to Cape Town in South Africa for the second leg of Ocean Race 2023, which will last 18 days.
The footage shows the regatta participants cutting across the water during the voyage, which will last some 8,500 kilometres across the open ocean.
According to Richard Brisius, Ocean Race President, "the boats will sail down through the equator, crossing the doldrums where there is no wind, and it's steaming hot. Entering into the Southern Atlantic where it's cold and stormy, and then crossing the finish line in iconic Cape Town."
