Residents of Listvyanka village in Irkutsk region rescued a roe deer stuck on the frozen surface of Lake Baikal according to the 'Zapovednoe Pribaikalye' nature reserve, which reported the incident on its Telegram channel on Thursday, January 12.

"[The] residents of a village on the shore of Lake Baikal are grateful to the employees of the Listvyanskoye forestry of the Federal State Institution 'Zapovednoe Pribaikalye'. Concerned people rescued a helpless roe from the ice of the lake," the message read.

The local man and his family, who were traveling on a hovercraft, noticed a dark spot on the lake that turned out to be the roe deer stuck in a small puddle on the ice.

Eyewitnesses appealed to the local district forestry office and offered their help.

"On the advice of Pribaikalsky National Park inspectors we tied the animal's legs so it wouldn't injure itself and wouldn't fall off the boat while being transported to the shore," said Anna Sizykh, who participated in the rescue.

After that residents released the roe deer at the Krestovaya Pad nature reserve.
