Grannies prove age is just a number in 'Mrs Grandma Universe' pageant held in Sofia
To all those beautiful and talented grannies out there who think they are 'too old' for beauty pageants, well, think again! In Sofia, the "Mrs Grandma Universe" beauty contest took place on Saturday, in which dozens of granny contestants from different continents took part. The contest has a 14-year history in which grannies parade and display various artistic gifts.
The winner was Laura Lee from Singapore, a 48 years old with three children and six grandchildren. Her hobbies are singing and dancing. Alyona Sibieva from St. Petersburg, a martial arts trainer came in third in the contest.
"Every person is beautiful in their own way. And I think age is discrimination," said the organiser of the pageant, Megi Savova, adding she had high hopes for the future of the contest. "The most wonderful thing is that the title contenders remain friends afterwards."
After the end of the beauty contests, contesters participate in various charitable and social initiatives and thus become ambassadors of goodness.
