A bird's-eye view of Turkmenistan's snow-covered capital was captured on Thursday, with stunning views of its buildings, transport hubs and wooded parkland.

According to local media, Ashgabat was hit by heavy snowfall on the night of January 8-9.

In contrast to the northern regions of the country, snowfall in the capital and suburban areas can last up to two or three days. Due to the erratic climate, winter temperatures often fluctuate markedly between +10 and -10 °C (14-50 degrees Fahrenheit).
