Wang Lina, a pastry maker in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, has created a series of special rabbit-shaped cakes to celebrate the Chinese New Year, and combined them with art of 'Lion dancing', as seen in footage on Wednesday.

“This year, traditional Lion Dancing is a trendy topic in China. So we decide to create a lion dancing hat for our rabbit buns,” she explained.

The 'Lion dance' itself usually has two performers controlling a giant lion costume. Wang’s own bunny buns for 2023’s Year of the Rabbit feature a lion head on top. She is seen fashioning the cakes in her kitchen with two of her staff.

“There are extremely strict requirements on the softness and hardness of the dough, the temperature, and the time you leave it. It requires us to control accurately in the production process in order to present a perfect product,” Wang explained.

She began making zodiac buns for the Year of the Pig in 2019, and started posting short videos. Her rabbit version has gained almost one and a half million likes on her social media.
