"Last year it was a great season, but this year it's catastrophic", said Nicolas, who owns a restaurant in the area. "It's not the first time there is not a lot of snow in December, but for the station to close, it is the first time", he added.
According to local media, around this Christmas, France registered the highest temperatures since 1997, with at least 7 to 8 degrees more than the average. Many ski stations around the country, especially those located in lower in hight, were forced to close.
