Tasting victory? Argentine pastry chefs create cake of World Cup hero Messi's head
Chacabuco's pastry shop in Buenos Aires decided to pay tribute to Argentina's top football star, Lionel Messi, in a unique way - by creating a cake in the shape of his head.
Footage features the owners, Erica and Adrian, apply the finishing touches to their versions of the legendary football player, just days before he leads his team against France in the Qatar World Cup final.
"Immediately when we went up to Messi, the orders were many," Erica said.
According to the chefs, it takes more than 30 hours to make one cake, which feeds around 40 people and costs 350 USD (329 EUR). The cake instantly gained popularity on social media.
"People's responses surprised us a lot on social networks and calls; the truth is that we did not expect such an impact," Erica shared.
The cake makers do not plan to focus on Messi alone and are already working on a cake in the form of rising Argentine star Julian Alvarez.
Argentina play France in the World Cup final at Lusail Stadium on Sunday.
