Magadan submarine launches Kalibr missiles at marine and coastal targets - Defence Ministry
The Russian Ministry of Defense on Friday published footage on Thursday showing the latest Magadan submarine with diesel and electric units launching Kalibr cruise missiles at sea and coastal targets from the Sea of Japan.
In the footage, a submarine of the Pacific Fleet could be seen setting sail and launching missiles.
According to the Russian Defence Ministry the submarine "secretly entered a given area, from where it launched missile strikes at target positions."
The ministry added that the first target was a mock enemy surface ship. The second target was coastal and was located on the tactical field Surkum in the Khabarovsk Territory. The firing range amounted to more than one thousand kilometers (621.3 miles).
Ships and vessels of the Pacific Fleet, aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicles of naval aviation provided the missile launches.
The Magadan submarine is the third Project 636.3 diesel-electric submarine in the Pacific Fleet armed with 'Kalibr' cruise missiles. The vessel was admitted to the fleet in October 2021, and arrived via the Northern Sea Route in October 2022.
