Key G20 leaders planted trees in Taman Hutan Raya mangrove trees before heading to the 'Apurva Kempinski Bali' for the final day of the G20 summit, on Wednesday.

Footage features Indonesian President Joko Widodo greeting US President Joe Biden, German Chansellor Olaf Scholz, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, President of the European Union Commission Ursula von der Leyen, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, and other officials.

After a short discussion, the leaders proceeded to the spot where they planted the trees.

The tree planting reportedly came after US President Joe Biden's emergency G7 and NATO meeting, following an allegedly Russian-made missile incident in eastern Poland.

The 2022 G20 summit in Bali is taking place under the shadow of the conflict in Ukraine that started in late February, increasing tensions between Moscow and the Western countries, who are sending weapons to Kiev in an attempt to defeat Russia on the battlefield.

The US and the EU also imposed tough economic sanctions against Russia, although these have not been supported and implemented by many of the world’s leading economies, including Brazil, India and China.

Russian President Vladimir Putin decided not to attend the G20 meeting, sending Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov instead.
