Argentina: Pride parade in Buenos Aires demands more trans rights
Thousands of members of the LGBTIQ+ community took to the streets of Buenos Aires on Saturday to demand more rights for trans people.
Footage shows thousands of people in brightly coloured costumes with LGBT flags and posters about expanding trans rights gathering in front of the Casa Rosada and several blocks on Avenida de Mayo. Activists can also be seen moving around the city on platforms with banners.
Thus, thousands of people gather on Avenida de Mayo, with flags, costumes, and buses, to parade through the streets and expose dissidence.
"What should be changed is not the acceptance, it is basic respect, because it is not about accepting us, it is about respecting us and knowing that we exist as people," Lackiie, a trans activist, said.
The Pride March is the most important public act of the LGBTIQ+ community in Argentina. It has been held every first Saturday of November since 1992 to make visible the demands of the group and express pride and freedom for sexual orientation, gender identity, and expression.
This year, the Organizing Commission of the Pride March decided that the slogan be "The debt is with us: Comprehensive Trans Law, Anti-Discrimination Law and Yes to Inclusive Language."
