Nanning locals packed riverside parks and green spaces as the government of China called on the citizens to avoid long-distance travel and the National Day holiday in local resorts.
All hotels surrounding the Yongjiang River in Nanning and its surrounding cities are reportedly fully booked as travel remains restricted amid COVID-19 concerns.
“In response to the government's call, we won't travel because of the pandemic," said a local Mr Huang after the central government issued warnings against long-distance travel.
On Monday, China recorded 4,384 new COVID cases according to the data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.
