
Germany: 'Open Nord Stream 2!' - Thousands rally in Plauen calling for government to quit over handling of energy crisis
Thousands of people rallied on Sunday in Plauen to demand the government resign for its handling of the energy crisis.
Protesters marched through the streets of Plauen with flags and signs criticising the German Government. Some of the protesters also waved Russian flags and demanded the opening of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline.
The protest was called by the organisation ‘Forum for Democracy and Freedom’.
Germany has been struggling with an energy crisis as Russia halted its natural gas supplies, and announced last month some measures aimed at reducing gas consumption during the upcoming winter, including lowering the heating temperature in offices and public buildings.
