UK: Royal Courts and Royal London Hospital footage - Court of Appeal rules on withdrawing life support from Archie Battersbee
Footage shot on Monday shows London’s Royal Court of Justice, home to the Court of Appeal, as well as The Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel; both central to the case of 12-year-old Archie Battersbee.
The appeal court rejected a challenge brought by Archie’s parents on Monday, allowing the hospital to turn off his life support at midday on Tuesday.
The decision came despite a request from the United Nations to keep the boy alive while it considered the case.
Archie has been in hospital since April, after his mother found him with a ligature around his neck. His doctors believe he has suffered brain-stem death.
