Macau: Casinos shut down for a week following COVID-19 outbreak
Macau's casinos could be seen empty on Monday following a shut down order by authorities amid a COVID-19 outbreak that has surpassed 1,500 new cases since mid-June.
Footage shows an empty casino district as residents flock to the testing centres.
"Nobody knows whether we can resume work after July 18. Maybe the closure of business will last. If it does last, we might have to endure the leave without pay,” said Ms Chan, a Gaming Industry worker.
The shutdown will affect all industrial and commercial venues until midnight on 18 July.
