Netherlands: 'We are flying too much' - Environmental activists rally at Schiphol Airport
Dozens of environmental activists participated in a rally at Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport on Saturday.
Footage features activists dressed in red costumes performing at the airport entrance, while others chanting slogans outside with some of the protesters joining the rally on bicycles.
People also can be seen holding banners criticising noise around the airport and CO2 pollution. The Extinction Rebellion logos were visible among others. Passengers continued their journey unhindered.
"We are asking for the governments and everyone to fly less because right now we are flying too much. It is polluting there and also causing a lot of noise," said Ellis Mourits, a participant in the cycle ride from Lelystad Airport.
One group of protesters had previously left from Lelystad airport, while the other group left from Rotterdam airport. Both groups met a few kilometres before arriving at Schiphol airport, the main airport in the Netherlands, where they were joined by other protesters.
