Russia: 'Mummy, we're going to parade'- Thousands join Immortal Regiment throughout the country
Thousands attended the Immortal Regiment march across Russia to commemorate the 77th anniversary of Victory in the Soviet-German War on Monday.
Footage shows Yekaterinburg, Sevastopol and Norilsk residents marching along streets while holding portraits of veterans, flags and banners.
"I am very reverent [to the event]. Even when there was no Immortal Regiment [event], I always took a portrait of my mother - a picture of her is kept on my dresser, just like this one, but small - and I always said: 'Mummy, we're going to the parade'," participant from Norilsk shared.
The Immortal Regiment has been held in Russia since 2012. The event involves people walking down the streets on Victory Day holding photographs of their relatives who participated in the Soviet-German War.
In 2020 and 2021, Immortal Regiment march was conducted online due to COVID-19 restrictions.
