
Russia: V-Day parade takes place on Red Square in Moscow
A military parade took place at the Red Square in Moscow on Monday, marking the 77th anniversary of Victory in the 1941–1945 Great Patriotic War.
Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu and the Commander-in-Chief of the Ground Forces, Army General Oleg Salyukov opened the event, which was attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The mechanised column, moving through the central Moscow square, included Т-34–85 Victory Tank Taifun-K, S-400 Triumf, Buk-M3 and Tor-M2 air defence systems, Yars strategic systems, Tornado-G rocket systems, Iskander-M operational-tactical missile systems and other military vehicles.
The airshow was cancelled due to bad weather.
The parade featured 131 weapon systems and over 11,000 military personnel.
The Victory Parade is traditionally held on May 9 in Moscow's Red Square as well as all around Russia.
