'Better than 10 friends' - Two children take care of 10 cats inside displaced camp
Two young brothers, Abdul Majeed and Muhammad Sharif, who live in the Jabal camp, northwest of Idlib, managed to balance their love for cats with the difficult conditions in which they live.
Nowadays, the two children raise 10 cats near the camp and take care of them inside their tent in difficult weather conditions.
After being displaced with their family to escape war, the two children found themselves alone among the tents. One day while they were collecting plastic, they found a small cat, and started to take care of it.
"I don't have friends to play with them and have fun. That's why I searched and found a cat and brought it here. I took care of it, warmed it and fed it until it grew up. After that, I started taking care of another one and their number started increasing until they became 10, they go and come back constantly," said Abdul Majeed.
With the onset of winter, the two brothers collect firewood to warm the tent and the cats, where Abdul Majeed and Mohammed spend much time playing with their favourite pets.
"They are nice and entertain me all the time, as we pet them, play with them and pat them all the time. They entertain me Better than ten friends," Abdul Majeed said.
According to the Response Coordinators in northern Syria, the number of displaced Syrians has so far reached about 2.1 million.
