China: Guangzhou residents celebrate year of the Tiger with acrobatic performances
Guangzhou residents celebrated Lunar New Year under the sign of the tiger with artistic performances on Tuesday.
Acrobats from the Changban Dragon Lion Sports Association dressed up as four tigers danced in front of an audience at the Cantonese embroidery cultural centre accompanied by musicians.
As the celebration is based on the traditional Chinese lunar calendar, it does not take place on a fixed date in the Gregorian calendar, but usually on the second new moon after the winter solstice, i.e. between 21 January and 21 February.
