USA: Previously unseen Nirvana photos to be auctioned as NFTs for Kurt Cobain's birthday
A set of never-before-seen Nirvana photos will go on sale as NFTs to commemorate what would be Kurt Cobain's 55th birthday, as seen in Philadelphia on Thursday.
The photos were taken just one week before the band shot to stardom during a live show, by photographer Faith West.
"One of the keys to NFTs is scarcity. Because of the unfortunate early death of Kurt Cobain, images of him are scarce. And so we are giving the fans an opportunity to own a piece of the Nirvana history, which is very limited unfortunately," said West on the decision to offer the images as NFTs.
Fans will be able to purchase one of 100 copies of the images for 99 dollars (89 euros), with moving images available for 499 dollars (447 euros).
A separate auction offering one-of-a-kind versions of each image and GIF will begin sales at 1ETH (3,000 dollars, 2,690 euros) with prices expected to reach 67 ETH (a quarter of a million dollars, 224,000 euros).
The NFTs will go on sale on February 20.
