    Beautiful sculptures made out of snow could be admired during the first ever World Snow Sculpting Championships in Stillwater's Lowell Park on Saturday.

    The event marked the finale of the competition, with teams competing from the USA, Canada, Germany, Turkey and Ecuador.

    Thousands of visitors flocked to see the finished snow sculptures which the teams started building on Wednesday.

    "We started early in the week building ten foot by ten foot by ten foot snow forms for these snow sculptors to come in and make their creation," explained Stacie Jensen, the communications manager of the competition.

    The winning teams were announced on Saturday afternoon. Canada placed first, whilst Ecuador and Team Snow Cowboys from Minnesota placed second and third, respectively.
