    Sidney Poitier received tributes after the actor's death was announced early Friday morning on top of his star along the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

    People walked past as a wreath was constructed, along with flowers and candles that were placed on the star dedicated to the actor.

    Poitier was a respected actor who won an Academy Award in 1963. He was also a humanitarian and diplomat who had numerous accolades, including knighthood as well as a life achievement award from the American Film Institute in 1992.
