Thailand: Famous bay from 'The Beach' film reopens after 4 years
Tourists lined up to visit the iconic Maya Bay on the Thai island of Ko Phi Phi Le, on Saturday, as it reopened after nearly four years due to excessive tourism and pandemic restrictions.
The tourist hotspot also known for the famous movie "The Beach" with Leonardo DiCaprio officially reopened on New Year's Day.
"The government and national park organisers are very helpful. They help us and guide us for entrance in and out, and they were all wearing the masks," said one visitor.
To avoid overcrowding, the number of visitors will be limited to 4,125 per day and the number of tourists will not exceed 375 people at any one time.
