Italy: Superheroes climb down Milan hospital in spectacle for patients
Climbers dressed as superheroes descended along the side of Milan’s San Paolo hospital on Wednesday, in a spectacle for patients and an act of appreciation for medical staff.
The superheroes later visited the Department of Pediatrics, visiting hospitalised children.
“All our workers that in the last two years have been demonstrating to be tough, professional and never giving up. Therefore, apart from entertaining children, the most important message would be to thank those who are everyday heroes,” said Matteo Stocco, the medical director of the San Paolo Hospital.
Batman, Spiderman, and Superman were just some of the popular superhero figures that featured in the descent.
“It's a powerful feeling to be here descending with the other superheroes and seeing how strong in reality these children are, because what they are facing is much greater than what we, as adults, face every day,” commented one of the climbers.
“We would like to give them a big hug and leave them a memory for a day when they will remember it with great joy,” added the climber.
Ediliziacrobatica, a Milan-based company that specialises in the maintenance and construction work through the use of climbers, offered up their staff for the stunt in a gesture of good-will.
