Residents and tourists of Sochi relaxed on local beaches as usual despite the piles of debris left behind from recent flooding in the region.

As seen in footage taken on Wednesday, people are swimming and sunbathing in the Matsesta and Kudepsta areas. The local authorities did not manage to completely clear these zones from the effects of the storm.

Some of the beaches have already been cleared, according to media reports. From the coastal areas, the equipment removed about 700 tons of garbage, which was caused by streams of river water and surf.

Earlier on Sunday, a storm warning was announced in the Sochi area. Heavy downpours passed, which led to the flooding of the Matsesta, Khosta, Kudepsta, Khorot, Psou, Mzymta and Ashe rivers.

According to the administration of the Krasnodar region, an emergency regime has been introduced in six municipalities of the region due to flooding.

It is noted that as a result of the natural disaster, dozens of households were damaged. Power lines, water supply facilities and federal highways were damaged.
