UAE: Military technology on display at second day of International Defence Exhibition

The ADNEC (Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company) hosted a massive live display of military-grade armoured vehicles when they opened their doors to visitors, military officials and journalists on the second day of IDEX (International Defence Exhibition) and NAVDEX-2021 (Naval Defence & Maritime Security Exhibition). The second day of the arms expo took place in Abu Dhabi on Monday and will continue until February 25th.

Recently developed APCs (Armoured Personnel Carriers) and IFVs (Infantry Fighting Vehicles), many produced by companies based in the United Arab Emirates, showed off their might and capabilities around a track in front of the excited crowd.

Due to the ongoing COVID pandemic, organizers of the events decided to simplify the live demo programs. Unlike the previous editions of IDEX and NAVDEX, this year's performance lacked traditional counter-terrorist scenarios. Meanwhile, on the marina close by, armoured boats also raced and rolled in front of NAVDEX's guests, exhibiting the technology of unmanned vessels intercepting human-controlled boats.

The 15th edition of IDEX and NAVDEX will be taking place from February 21-25 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre in the capital of the United Arab Emirates. Over 900 exhibitors from 59 nations are taking part through 35 national exhibition stands.

According to the organisers, more than 12 billion AED (€2,7 billion euro, $3.3 billion) worth of total arms transactions was signed during the first two days of the exhibitions.
