USA: 'I will fire you on the spot' - Biden warns appointees to treat others with respect during virtual swearing-in ceremony

US President Joe Biden warned hundreds of staffers in his new administration to treat each other with 'decency' or risk being 'fired on the spot,' as he swore in presidential appointees in a virtual ceremony at the White House in Washington DC on Wednesday.

"I'm not joking when I say this, if you're ever working with me and I hear you treat another colleague with disrespect, talk down to someone, I promise you I will fire you on the spot. On the spot. No ifs, ands or buts. Everybody, everybody is entitled to be treated with decency and dignity," Biden said.

"We have to restore the soul of this country and I'm counting on all of you to be part of that. And it's not hyperbole. The only thing I expect with absolute certitude is honesty and decency," he added.
