USA: 'Democracy has prevailed' - President Biden in inauguration speech
Joe Biden announced that "democracy has prevailed" during his inauguration speech after taking his oath as the 46th President of the United States at the US Capitol Building in Washington DC on Wednesday.
In his speech, Biden also noted that citizens of the United States had "learned again that democracy is precious, democracy is fragile" in a nod to the recent storming of the Capitol Building by rioters.
The storming, which took place on January 6, resulted in the death of five people after supporters of the former US President Donald Trump rallied to disrupt the counting of electoral votes which confirmed Biden's victory.
