March of the Penguins! King penguins from Cincinnati Zoo enjoy ice day out
King penguins living at the Cincinnati Zoo were allowed out for a stroll on Monday as the zoo reopened its famous parade.
The penguins are allowed out among the visitors at the zoo and walk freely, with guests keeping a social distance from both the penguins and each other.
The zookeepers only allow the parade to go ahead if temperatures are below 10 degrees Celsius (50 degrees Fahrenheit) on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and holiday Mondays.
The king penguins have all been given names corresponding to famous 'Kings.' There is Martin Luther King, Coretta Scott King, B.B. King, and Larry King. The zoo also hosts a Burger King, however, Burger was a little bit shy and decided not to leave the habitat.
There is also an interesting penguin love triangle happening at the zoo. "In the past, Larry and B.B. were together as a breeding pair. But, in the past two years, I believe that Larry has preferred Coretta," explained a zookeeper.
