USA: New Yorkers enjoy limited viewing time of Rockefeller Centre Christmas tree
New Yorkers flocked to see the traditional Christmas tree outside the Rockefeller Centre on Wednesday, as the viewing time was limited due to COVID-19 restrictions.
After scanning QR codes near the building, attendees would receive a text message confirming the time slot of their visit. Social distancing and face masks were mandatory with a five-minute limit on staying in the area.
"Given the COVID situation, it definitely been a really hard year for everyone, so the fact that you know we can still be here and be alive and healthy and celebrate it with our family you know is definitely something that gives us hope, and here else could be better than in New York City," said Sherryl, a New York resident.
This year's Rockefeller Christmas tree is a 22.9-metre (75-ft) Norway spruce with a 408-kilogram (900-pound) star on top, covered with three million crystals. During a usual holiday season the site attracts nearly 750,000 visitors daily.
