
Netherlands: Police cordon off supermarket following stabbing in The Hague
Police cordoned off the perimeter of a supermarket in The Hague after at least three people were injured in a fire and stabbing on Wednesday.
A heavy police presence could be seen outside the Albert Heijn. Firefighters were also present on the scene.
"We saw a lot of flames, high flames at the self-register check out (of the supermarket) and a lot of panic, people running out of the store, people running back into the store and then total chaos," said an eyewitness, Kika Buurman.
Two of the injured were taken to a hospital for treatment.
According to the police, a 43-year-old man was arrested in the Dutch town of Pijnacker, and his involvement in the incident is being investigated.
The motive is still unknown.
