Argentina: Maradona's doctor voluntarily goes to prosecutor’s office to testify
Diego Maradona's former personal physician, Lepoldo Luque, went to the public prosecutor’s office on Monday to give a voluntary statement after police raided his property this weekend as part of an investigation into alleged negligence in the treatment of the football legend, who died of a heart attack last Wednesday.
The neurosurgeon was seen arriving at the San Isidro public prosecutor's office. However, Luque left without testifying in court, as for the moment he is not formally charged.
"He did not testify because he is not formally charged and they could not take his testimony," Leopoldo Luque’s lawyer, Mara Digiuni, told the press.
"They raided him, as they raided Swiss medical (centre) and other places to take the documentation and what they considered necessary for the investigation," the lawyer added.
The police raided Luque's private home and office on Sunday to collect the South American star's medical records.
Monday's images also show lawyer Mario Baudry, who appeared before the San Isidro prosecutor's office as a representative of Diego Fernando, Maradona's youngest son, in the investigation into the star's death.
"What we are going to request is that all those who participated in Diego's care be investigated until the end, and to the last consequences, in case there was abandonment,” said Mario Baudry, the current partner of Veronica Ojeda, the mother of Maradona's youngest son.
Argentine football legend Diego Maradona died Wednesday after suffering a heart attack as he was recovering from brain surgery.
