      A helicopter and an armoured police car arrived on-site where an armed man has taken several people hostage in a bank in the town of Zugdidi in western Georgia on Wednesday.

      Two hostages have been released so far. Authorities have not provided the exact number of hostages who remain in the bank.

      Reports indicate 16 more hostages are yet to be released.

      It was previously reported that the unidentified gunman had demanded 500 thousand US dollars (421 thousand Euros) and his personal safety guaranteed.
