Russia: Moose rescued with excavator after being trapped in pipeline trench
Workers, who were busy with burying a pipeline in the ground, were seen pulling out a big moose that fell into a trench and was lying motionless on the bottom within in the Omsk region. The incident took place on Wednesday, September 30.
The workers, who returned to the working site after repairing their equipment, discovered the poor animal trapped head over heels in a three metres deep (9,84 ft) trench and reported it to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of Omsk.
The hunting department inspector who arrived at the site conducted the rescue operation. As the trench was too narrow for a scared moose to get out unassisted, it was decided to widen it with an excavator. The workers showcased all their skills and carefully removed the soil a few centimetres from the moose, who they covered with rags beforehand.
The rescue operation lasted for about two hours, and after the shocked moose was hauled out from its predicament, the bull trotted away to the nearest forest.
