A model railroad in the Lower Saxony's Bispingen, Germany, is set to break the record as the world’s largest train set. As seen on Wednesday, the model has more than 12,000 square metres and the train tracks are reportedly 600 metres longer than the current record holder in Hamburg.
"It is the largest facility constructed in the world, [in terms of] the area, the track length, the trains," said Frank Blin, Managing Director of Abenteuer Resort, the complex at which the train set model is located.
Blin adds that he is touch with the Guinness Book and that "the world record is currently being made, we are waiting to be recognised."
Around 40 employees take care of 21 km (13 miles) of tracks, 500 trains and 50 theme worlds, such as Egypt, China, United States and India.
"In 2018 we reconsidered what we were doing. It is a fact that the ski hall runs super well for six months, the problem is it gets difficult in the summer months. So we thought about what we can do for tourists, and the model train set is good for everyone, for children, for adults," Blin said.
